If you’re looking up his name chances are you’ve heard of Dr Joe McCord and his affiliation with LifeVantage. You’re doing your research and you want to know who the man behind the product is?
Well, I did the same thing 🙂 and to be honest, when I first started doing my homework I was like “Ahh dammit! This is another MLM thing!” But a few things had piqued my curiosity so I kept up my research on good old Google and dependable YouTube and I found some rather interesting information.
Dr Joe McCord is an American Biochemist who attended Rhodes College and did his Ph.D at Duke University. He has been a recipient of the Discovery Award from the Society for Free Radicle Biology and Medicine and, more importantly, the Elliott Cresson Medal.
Others who received this award are Marie Curie, Alexander Graham Bell, Orville Wright, Isaac Newton so , I’m thinking it’s safe to say this award is a pretty big deal.
Dr Joe McCord received this medal for his co-discovery of Superoxiode Dismutase
Superoxide dismutase, or SOD, is an enzyme found in all living cells and an enzyme is a substance that speeds up certain chemical reactions in the body. SOD is an enzyme that helps break down potentially harmful oxygen molecules in cells, in other words it’s an antioxidant!
And, along with Catalase and Glutathione, it’s an antioxidant that our own bodies make and a very powerful combatant of free radicles.
This discovery marked the beginning of the study of oxidative stress and its impact on the human body. Thanks to this groundbreaking work, Dr. McCord is highly regarded in the field and has helped shape the direction of antioxidant research over the years.
Having Dr Joe McCord join the LifeVantage team as the Chief Scientific Officer was a huge win for the company.
Dr McCord then continued to research along the anti-ageing lines and, along with other scientists, researched and developed Protandim Nrf2.
For many years he headed research and development of LifeVantage and its activating products and educated people on free radicle biology and why Protandim Nrf2 was so important.
He has since retired from the company but his lectures and speeches still flood the internet and with good reason. He explains oxidative stress and the power of Nrf2 in a way that most people can understand.
You can hop on the net and find many versions of these for yourself but here’s a few that I thought were of interest. They are long… but if you’re really wanting to know about the science behind Protandim then these are well worth watching.
I do hope this information has helped you to understand Protandim Nrf2 a little better. I have not met or interviewed Dr McCord personally, so please take into account that all this information was gleaned from various websites around the internet.
I’m simply sharing the fruits of my research and I encourage you to do your own too 🙂
